Australia visa & Australian passport photo
ImmiAccount needs a facial image as a JPG of 70 KB to 3.5 MB. Australian passport photos are 35–40 × 45–50 mm with the head 32–36 mm, on white or light grey.
Visa facial image (ImmiAccount) — 70–3500 KB · 3.5 × 4.5 cm
- JPG, 70 KB – 3.5 MB, one per applicant (children too)
- Home Affairs gives no pixel size; we make 900 × 1157 px in passport proportions
Passport photo 35 × 45 mm (print) — 35 × 45 mm
- 35–40 mm × 45–50 mm; head (chin to crown) 32–36 mm
- Plain white or light grey background; less than 6 months old
- Two identical photos; must be printed professionally (dye-sublimation, glossy, 200 gsm+) — take the sheet to a photo lab, not an inkjet
- Paper applications: your guarantor signs the back of one photo in black pen: “This is a true photo of [your full name]”
Other rules
- No glasses unless medically required (with proof); frames must not cover the eyes.
- Photos must not be retouched, so Official-ready keeps your original background — use a plain white or light-grey wall.
- Visa subclasses can add their own rules (e.g. subclass 461 paper applications).
